Cooking should feel simple again

My Recipe Diaries is a friendly journal of easy, wholesome recipes written with older adults in mind — and welcoming to anyone who loves uncomplicated home cooking.

Somewhere along the way, cooking started to feel complicated. Endless ingredient lists, fussy techniques, and recipes that seemed written for restaurant kitchens rather than home ones. We started My Recipe Diaries to gently push back against all of that.

Every recipe here is chosen for the same reasons: short ingredient lists, clear and gentle steps, and flavors that comfort rather than overwhelm. We pay special attention to the way cooking changes as the years add up — meals that are easy to chew, lighter on salt, quick to put together, and kind on cleanup.

What we believe

Good food does not need to be fancy to be nourishing. A warm bowl of soup, a piece of tender fish, a creamy parfait — these simple plates are some of life's quiet pleasures, and they should stay within easy reach at every age.

  • Simple over complicated. If a recipe needs a long list or a fussy method, we look for a gentler way.
  • Gentle and nourishing. We favor lower-salt, easy-to-chew, balanced meals that feel good to eat.
  • Honest and welcoming. No jargon, no pressure — just friendly cooking you can trust.

Who it is for

We write for older adults cooking for one or two, for caregivers looking for soft and comforting meals, and for anyone who simply wants dinner to be easier tonight. If that sounds like you, you are in exactly the right place.

A kitchen should be a place of comfort, not stress. We hope these recipes help yours feel that way.
